Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)

Director: Kevin Smith

Writers: Kevin Smith

Cast: Fred Armisen, Melissa Benoist, Joey Lauren Adams

IMDB Rating: 5.7/10

Jay and Silent Bob travel to court to meet with Brandon St. Randy, their lawyer. Before talking to the Honorable Judge Jerry N. Executioner and the Bailiff, he signs the two forms. Judge Jerry is persuaded by Brandon that Jay and Bob were only working at a brief pop-up shop to promote a film.

Following the Judge’s dismissal of the two, Brandon promptly goes to work defending a Hollywood prosecutor. It turns out that the two druggies signed agreements to allow Saban Films to legally obtain their identities since the company is preparing a remake of “Bluntman and Chronic.” As a result, Jay and Silent Bob are no longer able to use such names. If you like watching the best comedies, go for it.

Big Hero 6 (2014) - Mest Comedy Movies NZ

When a tragic tragedy strikes the city of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to Baymax and his close buddies adrenaline addict Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemical wiz Honey Lemon, and fanboy Fred for help.

Hiro turns his companions into a band of high-tech superheroes known as “Big Hero 6” in order to solve the mystery. Overall, this movie might not be among the list of IMDb best comedy films but deserve watching.

95. Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

Director: Wes Anderson

Writers: Roald Dahl

Cast: Bill Murray, George Clooney, Willem Dafoe

IMDB Rating: 7.9/10

This is one of the best comedies – a narrative of Mr. Fox and his nocturnal, instinctual adventures of hen heckling, turkey snatching, and cider sipping. He has to put his wild days behind him and focus on becoming a decent father. He’s too disobedient. He’s out of control.

Walter Boggis, Nathan Bunce, and Franklin Bean are the three nastiest, meanest farmers, and he’s going to try “just one more attack” on them.

It’s a story about crossing the boundary between family obligations and nocturnal adventures, as well as the friendships and wakefulness that come with living in the country, like Fantastic Mr. Fox and his buddies do.

96. Airplane! (1980)

Airplane! (1980)

Directors:  David Zucker, Jerry Zucker

Writer: Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker

Cast: Robert Hays, Leslie Nielsen, Julie Hagerty

IMDB: 7.7/10

Jim Abraham and the Zucker brothers went on to create the Naked Gun and Hot Shots films. It’s a humorous and extremely ridiculous satire of 1970s disaster movies, starring Robert Hays as a disturbed ex-pilot forced to land an aeroplane after the actual captain falls from food sickness. As an onboard doctor, Leslie Nielsen steals the show.

Director: John Landis

Writer: Timothy Harris, Herschel Weingrod

Cast: Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Lee Curtis

IMDB: 7.5/10

The sadistic fairytale of two conniving businessmen who decide to replace one of their best employees – Harvard elitist Dan Akyroyd – with Eddie Murphy’s sharp-witted street bum has rarely been more cannily explored.

The sight of Aykroyd, drunk and suicidal in a Santa suit on Christmas Eve, says more about the realities of Wall Street than a hundred financial-crash documentaries – and ensures that you’ll be rooting for him and his former competitor in the great climactic switcheroo. It is among the best films in cinema history.

Director: John Hughes

Writer: John Hughes

Cast: Steve Martin, John Candy, Laila Robins, Michael McKean

IMDB: 7.6/10

John Candy was more than simply a cheerful chubby guy; he was one of those actors who appeared to have humour in his bones. The effects might be catastrophic if he added a touch of pathos. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles are by far the best in that exclusive subgenre of movies about stressed-out males trying to get back to their loved ones for the holidays.

It succeeds not because both Candy and Steve Martin are effortlessly amusing – though they are, and it’s lovely. But it’s all building up to that last scene, which is filled with indelible, tear-jerking poignancy.

Director: Leo McCarey

Writer: Bert Kalmar (story), Harry Ruby

Cast: Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx

IMDB: 7.8/10

What do you say when a movie is approaching its first century and still seems as topical, relevant, and subversive as it did when it was originally released? Duck Soup, the Marx Brothers’ greatest film, takes them far away from their New York music hall setting and into a warped miniature Mittel-Europa filtered via immigrant memories and fairytales.

A conflict is building between the noble people of Freedonia and the crypto-fascists of Sylvania. With a softer touch than Chaplin’s Great Dictator, the picture mocks not just fascism but also patriotism and politics in general: here is a satire that uses a sledgehammer and a scalpel in the same scene.

100. Ghostbusters (1984)

ghostbusters-1984

Director: Ivan Reitman

Writer: Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis

Cast: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd

IMDB Rating: 7.8/10

Who are you going to contact if New York is overrun by horrible ghouls? You already know the answer: four self-proclaimed Ghostbusters who are prepared to run in and blast the ghosts into oblivion.

The have-a-go-heroes who are flung into the limelight with entertaining outcomes are a big part of this sci-fi comedy’s appeal. Bill Murray’s deadpan, womanizing scientist is unquestionably a standout, but Rick Moranis’ idiot living in Manhattan’s most haunted building offers insane character comedy.
